Industry and Clean Room Air Conditioning Installations by Air Options Limited

Air Options have installed many industry solutions throughout the UK. No project is too large or too small, with spend levels ranging from a few thousand pounds, up to many hundreds of thousands of pounds. Our clients vary from small independent manufacturing units right up to large blue chip corporations with large-scale manufacturing and processing plants.

Air Options offer package items manufactured by Daikin, Liebert Hiross, Mitsubishi and Trane along with bespoke items to suit a specific requirement or application.

Warranty packages are tailored to between 12 and 36 months to suit the customer's specific requirements. This warranty is fully supported by a dedicated in-house team offering emergency call out and routine maintenance packages.

Process Cooling systems usually incorporate multiple heat exchangers and are required to operate under a wide range of temperatures and flow rates - even if the cooling medium for these systems varies between water (purified, chemically treated or otherwise) and air. On many occasions we have been contracted to employ specialist water treatment methods to reduce corrosion and particle deposits. These deposits can have a detrimental effect upon the client process but will also inhibit / reduce heat removal from a process making it inefficient.

Water chiller plant and chilled water systems are suitable for a wide range of process cooling applications.  Examples include:

  • Plastics manufacture, extrusion and moulding, process cooling
  • Extrusion and die-casting moulding process cooling
  • Chemical and pharmaceutical process cooling
  • Food processing and packaging process cooling
  • Wine or brewing production process cooling

An example of one of our industry acclaimed process cooling solutions is a water-cooled system for a media manufacturer.  Please see also an example of a process cooling schematic.

Clean Room Air Conditioning Installation

Clean room solutions are engineered taking into account the cleanliness of the environment along with the reliability required to guarantee production on a 24/7 basis. Systems are engineered with backup and reliability in mind and are offered with between 20% and 100% of the system duty configured as an automated stand-by.

We look after many clean room environments which can be engineered to fall into the following categories dependant upon the level of cleanliness required:

General Operationclean rooms are designed to change the air within the environment served approximately 20 times per hour, sometimes more or less dependant upon the level of classification and cooling duty required. The air is constantly filtered to remove dirt and dust particles. This is carried out by an efficient filter system containing both pre, bag and HEPA ( high-efficiency particulate air ) filters. The performance of the filter systems is automatically monitored to ensure a consistent performance.

The room is normally engineered to operate at a positive pressure over the surrounding area to reduce the ingress of dirt and contaminants. Rooms containing chemicals or biological hazards can be configured to operate under negative pressure if deemed a hazard to the surrounding area .

The Room Constructionis compartmentalised from its surroundings. The air is conditioned to control temperature, filtered and if required humidity is added to reduce the drying effect within the area along with reducing static build up. The entrance to the room is through a lobby using insulated doors sitting within a sealed frame. This lobby is often referred to as an ‘air lock’.

Fresh air is introduced from an ambient supply and filtered to suit operating requirements and occupancy levels.

Rooms we are contracted to manage / construct or install air conditioning plant should take into consideration the following factors to reduce the build up and ingress of contaminants / dust.

We believe every room should consider the following if to be classed as a ‘clean room’ :

  • Coved skirting, and all internal angles
  • Anti-static / easy clean wall construction
  • Vinyl welded floor ( anti static )
  • Sealed windows and entrance / exit doors.
  • Lighting to current standards ( 500 as a guideline )
  • Air Conditioning / fresh air and filtration
  • Humidification if occupied by personnel
  • Good housekeeping and a stringent maintenance regime

The following items are available and can be installed dependant upon the budget available and level of cleanliness required :

  • Staff changing room and air lock ( can include air shower )
  • Remote reporting alarms / fault diagnosis ( via SMS , SNMP or phone dialler )
  • Small power and Data distribution
  • 100% fresh air make up systems (dirty or corrosive environments)
  • Negative pressure rooms for Biological Hazards

Clean rooms are validated to receive accreditation in line with the table above. Air Options employ a third party to validate completed rooms which receive industry recognised certification.

Clean rooms are of a very similar build and specification to what is commonly termed as ‘environmental rooms / chambers’. Air Options are able to offer solutions in both areas.

Energy Efficient?

We offer a wide range of inverter systems, considerably increasing system performance and efficiency whilst significantly reducing running costs. Inverter products are so efficient and 'green' that the UK Government endorses such installations by allowing companies to claim Enhanced Capital Allowances (ECA's), making this a very tax efficient purchase indeed: http://www.eca.gov.uk/etl.

Environmentally friendly?

All of the systems outlined above employ refrigerant based gasses as a cooling medium. All systems comply with current legislation and no substandard manufacturers or materials are used which may contravene the standards laid down by the same legislation. We pride ourselves with this approach and have our own policy for you to review.

How can we help?

Air Options carry out all of the survey, design and installation working as to offer a complete ‘turn key’ package if required. We can also look after your existing room and replace small items of plant / retro-fit existing builds to suit your requirement as and when required.

Once the works are handed over and operational, we produce extensive operation and maintenance (O+M) documentation and staff training if required.

Packages start from as little as a few thousand pounds and can in many cases dependant upon the complexity and size of the works be many hundreds of thousands of pounds .We have looked after many customers across the UK and at current service in excess of 300 clients. No matter what size the project, whether it be £10k or twenty times this, we pride ourselves that the end user will receive the same great service and support.

Once all of the works are complete we offer preventative maintenance agreements and full after sales support - supported by up to 36 month warranties.

Most importantly, all solutions are all engineered to comply with building regulations and Health and Safety guidelines.
